Q.01How do I create an account on New Canadian Careers?

Click "Sign Up" in the top right corner. Choose whether you are a candidate looking for work or an employer looking to hire. Enter your email and create a password. It takes less than a minute.

Q.02Is New Canadian Careers free for job seekers?

Yes. Creating a candidate account, building your profile, searching for jobs, and applying to positions is completely free. There are no hidden fees for candidates.

Q.03Can I use NCC if I'm still outside Canada?

Yes. Many newcomers start their job search before arriving in Canada. You can create your profile, browse jobs, and apply from anywhere in the world.

Q.04What types of users can register on NCC?

NCC supports three user types: Candidates (job seekers), Employers (companies hiring directly), and Agencies (recruitment firms hiring on behalf of client companies). Each has a dedicated dashboard and features.

Q.05What makes NCC different from Indeed or LinkedIn?

NCC is built for permanent residents and new citizens building their careers in Canada. Your profile has room for international work history, education, certifications, and the languages you speak, and job categories follow the National Occupational Classification (NOC 2021). Job seekers never pay to use NCC.

Q.06How do I get started as an employer?

Create an employer account, set up your company profile, and purchase a job posting package. You can then post jobs, review applications, and manage candidates from your dashboard. Visit our Pricing page for current packages.

Q.07How do I complete my candidate profile?

Go to your candidate dashboard. Fill in your work experience, education, skills, certifications, and languages. Upload your resume so it is ready when you apply. Your job preferences are used to match you with relevant roles.

Q.08Can I upload my WES or credential assessment results?

NCC does not have a dedicated credential assessment field. You can add your assessment (for example, from WES or IQAS) as a certification with the assessing organization as the issuer, and include its Canadian equivalency in your resume, which employers receive when you apply.

Q.09What language test scores can I add to my profile?

Your profile lists the languages you speak, each with a proficiency level (basic, conversational, professional, or native). There is no dedicated field for test scores, so include your IELTS, CELPIP, TEF, or CLB results in your resume, which employers receive when you apply.

Q.10How do I add international work experience?

NCC encourages you to include work experience from any country. When adding international experience, specify the country, duration, role, and employer. If you have a Canadian equivalency assessment, include it in your resume or add it as a certification.

Q.11Can I have multiple resumes on my profile?

You can upload your primary resume to your profile. When applying to specific jobs, you may have the option to attach a tailored resume or cover letter with your application.

Q.12How do I change my email or password?

Go to your account settings from the dashboard. You can update your email address, change your password, and manage your notification preferences from there.

Q.13Who can see my profile?

Employers cannot browse or search candidate profiles on NCC. An employer sees your information only when you apply to one of their jobs: your name and contact details, plus the resume, cover letter, links, and screening answers you submit with that application. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Q.14How do I delete my account and data?

You can request account deletion from your account settings or by contacting support. We will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable time, unless the law requires us to keep it. You can also use our Privacy Center to submit a data deletion request. See our Privacy Rights for full details.

Q.15How do I search for jobs on the platform?

Use the search bar on the Jobs page to search by keyword, job title, or company name. You can also browse by category, pick a province on the opportunity map, or use the location filter to find opportunities near you.

Q.16Can I filter jobs by location, salary, or remote work?

Yes. The Jobs page includes filters for location (city and province), employment type (full-time, part-time, contract), work arrangement (on-site, hybrid, remote), experience level, and salary range.

Q.17How do I apply to a job posting?

Click on any job listing to view the full details, then click "Apply Now." Your profile information and resume are submitted to the employer. You authorize NCC to transmit your application materials to the employer when you apply.

Q.18How can I track my job applications?

Log in to your candidate dashboard to see all your submitted applications, their current status (received, under review, shortlisted, or declined), and any updates from employers.

Q.19What do "featured" and "urgent" badges mean?

Featured jobs are premium listings that appear prominently in search results. Urgent jobs are positions the employer needs to fill quickly. Both receive increased visibility and are highlighted with special badges.

Q.20How does job matching work?

NCC uses automated matching to choose the jobs in your job match emails, based on the preferences in your profile: employment type, work setting, minimum salary, desired job titles, and job categories. If you have not set preferences, your saved searches are used instead. Matches are provided for informational purposes and do not guarantee suitability. All hiring decisions are made by employers and candidates. See our Automated Decision-Making section for details.

Q.21I applied but never heard back. What can I do?

Employers on NCC are expected to respond to applicants within a reasonable time. If your application status has not changed, you can check the status in your dashboard. When an employer moves your application to a new stage, such as Under Review or Shortlisted, your dashboard shows the updated status.

Q.22How do I report a suspicious job posting?

If you see a job posting that looks fraudulent, misleading, or violates our policies, click the "Report" button on the job detail page or contact us at [email protected]. We review reports and may remove listings that break our rules.

Q.23I just moved to Canada. Where do I start with my job search?

Start by creating your NCC profile with your full work history, education, certifications, and languages, and upload a resume that includes any credential assessments (WES, IQAS) and language test scores you have. Then search jobs by keyword, category, and location.

Q.24What is a WES assessment and do I need one?

WES (World Education Services) evaluates international educational credentials and provides a Canadian equivalency. Many employers and regulatory bodies require it. Other recognized assessment organizations include IQAS, ICES, and provincial bodies. Including your assessment results in your resume helps employers understand your qualifications when you apply.

Q.25What are NOC codes and why do they matter?

NOC (National Occupational Classification) is the Canadian system for classifying occupations. Immigration programs like Express Entry use NOC codes. NCC job categories follow the NOC 2021 structure, so you can browse roles in the occupational area that matches your experience. You can find your NOC code at canada.ca.

Q.26Do I need "Canadian experience" to find a job?

No. NCC was built for newcomers facing the "Canadian experience" barrier. Your profile and resume let you present your international experience and credentials clearly. In some provinces, requiring Canadian experience in job postings is prohibited by law.

Q.27What language tests are recognized by Canadian employers?

The most commonly recognized language tests are IELTS (International English Language Testing System), CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program), and TEF (Test d'evaluation de francais). Results are often mapped to CLB (Canadian Language Benchmarks) levels. Include your results in the resume you upload to NCC so employers see them when you apply.

Q.28How do I get my professional credentials recognized in Canada?

This depends on your profession. Regulated professions (engineering, nursing, accounting, medicine) require licensing from the relevant provincial regulatory body. Start by identifying your NOC code, then contact the appropriate regulatory body in your province. WES or IQAS assessments are a common first step for educational credentials.

Q.29Can I work in Canada with a permanent resident card?

Yes. Permanent residents have the legal right to work for any employer in Canada without any work permit restrictions. NCC is specifically built for permanent residents and new citizens who have full work authorization but face barriers in getting hired at their skill level.

Q.30What are my rights as a worker in Canada?

All workers in Canada are protected by federal and provincial employment standards, including minimum wage, overtime pay, vacation entitlements, statutory holidays, and termination notice. You also have protection under human rights legislation against discrimination. Visit canada.ca/employment-standards for details.

Q.31Where can I find settlement services and support?

The Government of Canada funds 520+ settlement service providers across the country through IRCC. These organizations offer free services including employment assistance, language training, and community connections. Visit canada.ca/immigration or call 211 to find services near you.

Q.32What is the "Canadian experience" barrier and how does NCC address it?

The "Canadian experience" barrier is the catch-22 where employers require Canadian work experience, but you cannot get Canadian experience without a job. NCC is built for newcomers facing this barrier: your profile has room for international work history, job categories follow the NOC 2021 structure, and you can present your credential assessments and language scores in the resume employers receive when you apply.

Q.33How do I post a job on New Canadian Careers?

Sign up for an employer account, set up your company profile, then click "Post a Job" from your dashboard. Fill in the job details, preview your listing, and publish. You need an active job posting package or credits to publish.

Q.34What job posting packages are available?

We offer flexible packages including single job posts, credit bundles, and monthly subscriptions. Packages differ in how many jobs you can post, how long each posting stays live, and whether featured listings or team access are included. Visit our Pricing page for current options.

Q.35How do I manage applications from candidates?

Your employer dashboard shows all incoming applications organized by job posting. You can review candidate profiles, download resumes, update application statuses, and communicate with applicants through the platform.

Q.36Can I feature or promote my job listing?

Yes. Featured jobs appear prominently in search results and category pages. You can add featured status when posting a job or upgrade an existing listing from your dashboard.

Q.37How do I set up my company profile?

Navigate to your company dashboard and click "Edit Profile." Add your company logo, description, industry, location, website, and social links. A complete company profile builds trust with candidates and appears in our public company directory.

Q.38What types of job listings are not allowed on NCC?

NCC prohibits MLM/network marketing, pyramid schemes, pay-to-work positions, commission-only roles without base pay, fake or misleading listings, adult content, and many other categories. See our full Prohibited Job Listings section for the complete list.

Q.39What are my obligations as an employer on NCC?

Employers must comply with Canadian employment standards, human rights legislation, and anti-discrimination laws. Job listings must be accurate, represent genuine positions, and not exploit candidates. See our Employer Obligations section for full details.

Q.40Do you work with recruitment agencies?

Yes. Agency accounts post jobs on behalf of client companies and manage them from one dashboard. Talk to our team to set one up.

Q.41What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through Stripe. Stripe processes your card securely. NCC does not store your card details.

Q.42How do credits work?

Publishing or scheduling a job post uses one credit, and extending or refreshing a live post uses one more. Saving drafts and editing a live post are free.

Q.43Do unused credits expire?

Credits from one-time packages and bundles stay in your account until you use them, unless the package lists an expiry period. Subscription credits are granted each billing period and expire when that period ends. If you buy more than one package, your balances add together in your Billing dashboard.

Q.44Are taxes included in the price?

Prices are shown before tax. If sales tax applies to your purchase, it is added at checkout and listed on your invoice.

Q.45Can I upgrade or change my plan?

Yes. You can buy another package at any time, and subscription plans can be changed or cancelled from the Billing section of your dashboard.

Q.46What is your refund policy?

Job posting credits and packages are non-refundable once purchased, except where a documented technical issue on our platform prevented you from using them as intended. If you experience a technical problem, contact [email protected] within 30 days. For subscriptions, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. See our full Refund Policy.

Q.47How does subscription auto-renewal work?

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) at the then-current rate unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will be charged on the same date each billing cycle. See our Payment Terms for details.

Q.48How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Billing section of your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for. There are no pro-rated refunds for partial billing periods.

Q.49How do I view my billing history and invoices?

Go to your dashboard and navigate to the Billing section. You will find a complete history of all transactions, downloadable invoices, and your current plan details.

Q.50Do you offer discounts for nonprofits or social enterprises?

We may offer special pricing for registered nonprofits and social enterprises focused on newcomer employment. Contact us at [email protected] to discuss your organization's needs.

Q.51How is my personal data protected?

We protect your information carefully. It is encrypted on the way to us, certain sensitive information is also encrypted where we store it, and only our staff who need it to help you can open it. For extra safety, you can add a second sign-in step (multi-factor authentication) to your account. Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA and BC PIPA) apply to how we handle your data. See our Data Security section for full details.

Q.52What are my privacy rights under Canadian law?

Under PIPEDA and BC PIPA, you have the right to: access your personal information, request correction of inaccurate data, withdraw consent, request deletion of your data, and file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) or the BC OIPC. We respond to requests within the time required by law. See our Privacy Rights section for how to exercise these rights.

Q.53Does NCC sell my personal data?

No. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. See our Information Sharing section for details on when and how data is shared.

Q.54How do I manage my cookie preferences?

You can manage cookie preferences at any time by clicking the Privacy Settings button (shield icon) on our website, or by visiting our Privacy Center. Analytics and marketing cookies require your opt-in consent before activation.

Q.55Is my payment information secure?

Yes. NCC never stores your full card number, CVV, or PIN. Card payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor; we keep only the card type and last four digits for receipts and billing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy for details.

Q.56How do I report a security concern?

If you suspect unauthorized access to your account or notice any security issue on the platform, contact us immediately at [email protected].

Q.57Where is my data stored?

Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union and the United States, with content delivery across a global network. We use contracts that require our providers to protect your data to a standard comparable to PIPEDA. See our Cross-Border Data Transfers section.

Q.58How do I submit a data access or deletion request?

You can submit data access, deletion, correction, or other privacy requests through our Privacy Center or by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within the time required by law.
